Tour 33 – Riding Camp for Children and Teenagers

This is a riding camp especially designed for children and teenagers from 10 to 16 years old.
Participants get the opportunity to ride different horses in riding lessons in the spacious, bright riding hall or in the paddock outside as well as during trail sessions in a variety of terrain. One of the highlights of the camp is learning to drive a herd of 30-50 free running horses.
The riding camp (clinic) is suitable for both beginners and more experienced riders as participants are grouped according to experience. Bring your swimsuit.

Day by day description
Day 1 Arrival
Our guests arrive at Keflavik Airport, Iceland. They take the bus from Keflavik to Reykjavik (BSÍ). They will be greeted by representatives from Eldhestar between 17.30 – 18.00, who will arrange transportation to Hveragerði. The first evening we all have dinner together and Eldhestar provide details about the next few days.
We have riding lessons in Eldhestar’s new riding hall between 9:00 and 12:00. After lunch we will take a part in an afternoon riding tour. We will start with Tour 3a – The Meadows & Mountains. After the riding tour, we will visit one of the finest swimming pool in Iceland. After dinner, we will see a video about the Icelandic horse.
The guests will be divided into groups according to riding experience, which means that this program will suit both beginners and experienced riders.
In the morning we have riding lessons and theoretical instruction. In the afternoon we go on
Tour 3b, The Soft River Banks. After taking bath in the hot tubs at the hotel and dinner, we will see a movie about the Icelandic horse.
We start the day with the last riding lessons in the riding hall. After lunch, we will offer a hiking tour to the valley Reykjadalur. This hike offers spectacular views featuring the variety of the magnificent Icelandic nature. In Reykjadalur Valley we will experience hot springs and also take a relaxing bath in a warm stream. On our way back to the farm, you can enjoy spectacular panoramas over the surroundings and also the waterfall Djúpagilsfoss. Later on we will have a fantastic view over the villageHveragerði and the Ölfus area, and also all the way down to the coastline, where we might see the Westman Islands. This is a unique opportunity to experience Icelandic nature in all its variety.
We have a last riding tour in the morning and after lunch we go on a sightseeing tour by bus. We visit the well known hot springGeysir, as well as Gullfoss, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Europe. We also visit lake Thingvallavatn and the old place where the Icelanders came together to the Althingî and made democratic decisions earlier than this became usual in other countries.
After the sightseeing tour, the bus will drive the participants to their hotels in Reykjavik.
