Mirjam d2025-08-12Verified Wonderful experience, highly recommended it's my second tour here and it was amazing. I did the Beach Ride (6A) which I can highly recommend. We switched horses during the first break as one person was not so happy with their horse as he was a bit too strong for her, and for me he was perfect. After lunch the horses were swapped around another time for people that also wanted to experience another horse. The views and the experience of this tour are absolutely wonderful, especially because we had amazing weather and still waters, so you got great reflections. I do think this tour is also nice with any other weather, but this was really the cherry on top of the cake. Åse2025-08-09Verified A fantastic experience Had a fantastic ride experience with tour 3a, three-hour tour in beautiful Icelandic landscape. The horses were incredibly kind and calm. The tour is suitable for both those who have rided before and beginners. Highly trained riders should probably choose another trip as this tour can be characterized as suitable for everyone. The girlfriend had never riding a horse before and also got a great experience. Also got tølte a good deal of something that was fun to try. The horses seem healthy and healthy and the guides treated them very well and it seemed like they really cared about the horses. The guide we had was very nice and knowledgeable. Guaranteed to return on ride holiday. Jennifer M2025-08-08Verified Horseback riding and hot springs tour. Joanne was amazing. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure everyone was safe and knew what we were doing. I have ridden for 35 years and compete competitively. This was an amazing experience and the horses are so well cared for. I love your horses come first and they all have days off. The whole experience was top notch. I would book again next time we come to Iceland. The views on this trip were breath taking and so memorable! I loved Leo so much. I wish I could take him home with me. He has such a personality that shows and he was so loving. We got along great and I appreciated his spunky attitude. My friend rode Kelsey and she was amazing also. We loved how you matched us perfectly with our riding experience. Can’t wait to download our GoPro videos. Thank you for everything you do! Huge shout out to all the staff. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!!! Natascha0123452025-07-28Verified Great experience! We are more like beginners, which is why we only booked the 1-hour tour. ES was really fun though and I could have done with an extension. The riding tour guide was extremely friendly, told a lot about the surroundings during the tour and took a short photo break with us. The horses were super sweet and didn't cause any difficulties - so well suited for beginners. The weather is of course a matter of luck - we even caught sunshine. I would recommend the tour! Carolyn B2025-07-28Verified Incredible Experience- Would do it again! In July I completed Tour 20, Kjolur. It was 6 days of riding across 118 miles of Icelandic trails. It was an absolutely incredible experience!I traveled solo, which I was a bit nervous about. As a woman traveling solo is not always easy. I knew I would be joining a large group and that I would not have private accommodations. However this was not an issue at all along the trip. I did share space, but the 17 other tour members welcomed me in like a big family. We all shared rooms and spaces and became very close. The tour truly fosters a group mentality and ensures no one is every lonely or left out. My guides were Sara, Lisa, and Kaya. All three of them were phenomenal. They knew the horses well and we were able to assist with riding and any horse related questions. They were knowledgeable about the area and communicated clearly and effectively even though English is not their first language. They were also fun, friendly, and just enjoyable to be around! We had an incredible chef named Yosh. We were told we were lucky to get him since he is one of their best. The food along the way was fabulous. Yosh managed to accommodate vegetarians, vegans, gluten allergies and other food allergies while still preparing wholesome, healthy, and delicious meals. We never went hungry. If you're lucky enough to have Yosh- make sure to try his Happy Marriage Cake. His is the best in Iceland! The most important part- the horses! They were phenomenal. We had an incredible group of 55 horses that we traveled with. We rode different ones each day and got to know their different personalities. We loved them all. All of the horses were healthy, well fed, well cared for. What they are capable of is just incredible. They marched right through terrain that my horses at home would never make it across without loosing shoes or pulling tendons! They took us through views that stunned beyond compare. Photos truly don't do the place justice. Nothing will beat being out in the middle of nowhere, seeing all that untouched land from the back of a horse. It was truly an unbeatable experience. Our accommodations were one area where I feel like the trip could use just a little bit of improvement. Don't expect anything fancy. Often times we just had mattresses on the floor or a big room full of bunk beds. Space was really tight. They were, however, pretty clean and being that close to everyone ensured that we all built strong relationships and watched out for one another. If you are actually staying at Hotel Eldhestar, the hotel and guesthouse are very nice, spacious, and pretty private. But any guesthouses you stay at along the trail will not be as nice. If you're still reading- here are a few recommendations!1. Pack as light as you can. Space is tight.2. Bring a fly net for your head if you travel in the summer. The midge flies adore the horses and will fly right into your face.3. Bring a variety of layers and be prepared to tie a layer around your waist. The weather changes pretty quickly.4. Plan to use the Eldhestar rain coat and pants. I brought my own raincoat and pants and did not need them. The Eldhestar ones were good quality and I didn't have to worry about ruining my own stuff. Sarah C2025-07-27Verified 7th trip to Eldhester This is my 7th visit and my second time doing your Kjölur-20. We lucked out with beautiful weather only one day of rain. Be prepared to share right spaces with a group, be prepared to lend a hand to your fellow riders, if your a light sleeper bring headphones as group sleeping can be a struggle for people who are bad sleepers ( not me :)). Be prepared that not every horse is perfect and you do have to know how to ride. As they say Ride every Stride! It's a lot of fun lots of singing and laughter. I have been very lucky with the bulk of my groups not being too annoying assuming I'm not annoying at all!!! And then it ends! Barbara F2025-07-23Verified We booked for The Elf Tour with my 7 years old daughter and enjoyed it fully. Caroline who was our guide was very nice and gave us a lot of infos about Elves, Trolls and all the magical creatures. With kids this is definitely the Best tour. The stable was also very helpful to change our date. They replied very quickly and were the most helpful. Thank you again for the staff, rhey do a great job. Book in advance, it is the Best in Iceland. Pia Haugaard N2025-07-22Verified I would go again any day The best experience ever. My daughter and I dreamed of going on a riding holiday in Iceland and my husband agreed to go, even if he had never sat on a horse before. We went on a five day trip (4 days on horseback 5-6 hours). We stayed at Hotel Eldhestar and ent on different tours every day. It was amazing. The guides were so skilled. And the horses were kind a patient, but still eager and responsive. We were in a mixed group consisting mostly of parent/daughter couples, and there were others with no or little riding experience. But we all got horses that matched our experience level, and it never felt like anyone was slowing the group down. It was the best holiday ever. The guides were fantastic, the horses were amazing, the tours were spectacular and the group was good company. So many hours on a hours on a horse will give you sore muscles and a sore bum. But it is so worth it😊I would recommend a pair of padded bike shorts under the riding trousers. Silke J2025-07-17Verified Amazing experience! Our experience on the Eldhestar 8C tour was absolutely fantastic! We loved meeting and riding wonderful horses, each with their own personality. The landscape was truly stunning—no two days were the same—and the guides were outstanding: skilled riders, excellent teachers, and genuinely kind and fun to be with. The accommodations were very comfortable, the food was excellent, and we really enjoyed sharing the adventure with such a great group. The whole experience exceeded my expectations!
