Exciting times ahead at Eldhestar – Secure your adventure for 2025!
In 2025, Eldhestar will celebrate 39 years since of bringing unforgettable experiences to those eager to explore Iceland on horseback. Much has changed since three young men, driven by passion more than anything else, set out on this adventure. Yet, the joy of riding through Iceland’s untouched nature on exceptional horses remains as immeasurable as ever. From the very beginning, our goal has been to share this incredible experience with both local and international guests – exploring Iceland’s diverse landscapes while showcasing the unique versatility of the Icelandic horse.
Back in those early days, when all three of us were guiding at the same time, Eldhestar felt lively – even with just one or two guests riding alongside us. Since then, we have grown tremendously. Today, we have 300 horses, a hotel and guesthouses with 60 rooms, stables for 60 horses, a riding hall, and an expanded selection of tours, now offering even more hotel accommodation options. Our breeding program, launched in 2010, has also flourished, producing outstanding horses year after year.

The summer of 2025 is approaching quickly, and we are thrilled to welcome so many guests. Several of our tours are already fully booked, including:

Our passion for breeding Icelandic horses
Breeding the Icelandic horse is at the heart of what we do. Each year, we welcome 5 – 7 foals, and so far, we have bred six first-prize mares – with two new additions joining the group in 2024. Below, you can see them along with two foals born last year.
