TOUR 4A - Bike and Ride

Enjoy an active day! The program starts at the old harbor in Reykjavik city center with a bike tour guided by a local who shows you the most popular sights and some secrets in Reykjavik. The route may include but is not limited to the following places: Reykjavik’s south facing beach – Ægissida, University of Iceland campus, Nordic House, Reykjavik’s Catholic Cathedral, Parliament building, Reykjavik’s Old Harbor, Tjörnin City Lake and City Center. We also pass the home of some of Iceland’s most famous people. After about 30 minutes lunch break you will be picked up by Eldhestar at the harbor and drive to our farm Vellir for a riding tour in scenic surroundings. You will get to try the special gait of the Icelandic horse, “tölt”, on nice trails along meadows with views of volcanic mountains. The program ends with coffee, tea or hot chocolate and home-baked cake, before we take you back to Reykjavik.

Excellent tour and I enjoyed myself. I was a little unsure of how I would go as it had been a couple of decades since I was last on a horse. They accommodated varying riding abilities very well and selected horses expertly. They provided outer layer clothing that kept us comfortable while riding in the elements. Our guide was informative, and encouraging. I experienced the tölt successfully with her guidance.
